Explore the story behind Ginius

We are Dominik (27) and Kevin (21), and in December 2024 we launched the Ginius Gin. The idea was born when we discovered an old diary filled with botanical recipes in our great-grandfather’s house.

Inspired by his notes and driven by our passion for gin, we began experimenting — blending tradition, creativity, and craftsmanship. The result is Ginius Gin: a unique creation that celebrates both heritage and innovation.

The Small Krumas Shop

In a small village in south tyrol surrounded by fields and forests, our great-grandfather ran a little country shop in the 1940s. Early every morning, he would harness his horse “Liesl” and drive into the city to find the best goods for the villagers.

When we — Dominik (27) and Kevin (21), his great-grandsons — discovered an old handwritten recipe book filled with dried lemon peels, juniper berries, and herbs, it was clear: we would bring our great-grandfather’s love for craftsmanship into the present.

His motto, “Only the best for my village,” still guides us today.

Design 1: THE GINI LAMP

We started the creation of the Ginius logo with the idea of agenie lamp. It felt like a perfect match for “Ginius” . But as the design process went on, we realized that the lamp tied us down too much. It limited the brand’s identity and direction. So, we let go of the lamp and looked for something that captured the same spark of genius in a more unique way.

Design 2: THE FLYING MACHINE

After that, we experimented with a flying machine as the main design element — another symbol of human genius and innovation. It represented creativity, freedom, and invention. However, over time we felt that the design carried too many associations with war and history, which didn’t fit the spirit of Ginius. So, we decided to move on once again in search of something that truly reflected our vision.

Design 3: THE LAMP WAS BORN

That’s when we came up with the idea of the light bulb — one of humanity’s most brilliant inventions. It perfectly symbolized creativity, inspiration, and bright ideas. To connect it even more with the concept of “genius,” we placed a golden brain inside the bulb. This combination became the heart of the Ginius logo.

Last Step: Finding the right style

Once we had the concept, the next challenge was finding the right style. Balancing the typography, colors, and the light bulb icon took time — we wanted everything to feel harmonious and elegant. The goal was to create a design that looked refined yet creative, capturing both the premium quality of the gin and the innovative spirit behind Ginius.

Final Result

For the final design, we created the light bulb with a brain inside. The light bulb represents one of humanity’s most brilliant inventions. By adding the brain within, we wanted to emphasize the idea ofgeniuseven more clearly. Together, these elements capture the essence of Ginius

The layout and colors of the Product

We designed Ginius Gin in black and gold, giving the product an elegant and premium appearance. The contrast between the deep black and the warm golden tones reflects both sophistication and creativity. We often combine the design with a dark green accent, adding a natural, timeless touch.

In the future, we plan to expand the collection with more editions. each featuring the same signature bottle, but with different colors and unique gin creations inside.
